Virtual Memory?
I'm using a Dell Inspiron 530, one year old, with XP, and four MBs of memory.
Recently, programs started opening as if they've never been opened before, and my Outlook Express would suddenly stop showing the letters. I did a diagnostic scan and found that the virtual memory wasn't optimized. I let the software do this, and it worked for a short time, then went back to being "unoptimized" again. Tried some tweaking in system properties, but this didn't work. Only rebooting sometimes restores the programs to opening correctly. I assume it's the virtual memory, but don't know how to give it a more permanent fix.
Do you have any idea why this could be happening, and how to fix it?

Malware/Spyware/Virus? Out of disk space?
Unless you are using 64 bit XP there are issues with over 3 gigs of ram.
Despite what the manual says you can install 8 gigs of ram and use it all if you have Vista Business 64 bit or any other 64 bit version of
vista.

I ran a full spyware scan, using Spyware Doctor, which should detect malware. And I hardly use any diskspace.
This began happening about a week ago. The machine is one year old.
