You stand a better chance of someone here helping with problem if you would post the exact error message you're getting, your current virtual memory settings, did the problem just show up, have you tried a system restore, etc., etc.

If you mean
"Your System Has No Paging File, or the Paging File Is Too Small"
see Microsft fix;

Rhertz,
Hold down the windows key and press the Pause/Break key. Your memory is listed on that page.
Since your operating system is located on "C" drive, put your whole paging file on "D" Most of the time you want to share the paging across the hard drives. The only exception is to stay off the system drive. I have used this and it works quite well.
Here is the setting you should have: C drive = no paging file; D drive = min is 1.5 X your Ram size and max. is 3 X your Ram size.
If you have 512ram ; your D drive is 768(min) 1536(max)

Thanks everyone, but there is no end to this problem....I have tried everything possible...
If anyone out there has found a way to correct this other than changing paging file settings or using every virus software known to man, let me know...
Thanks.....

The virus could have ruined XP system files. Try a repair/reinstall
Repair Reinstall will delete all of the files and registry used by XP. It will not delete applications and user settings. You will have to get all the updates again including SP1 (sp1 if not on your cd)
1.- Insert the Windows XP CD
2.- Configure your system to boot from the CD drive.
3.- Restart the computer
4.- Press the spacebar when the computer prompts to Press any key to boot from CD"
5.- The Welcome to Setup screen appears.
6.- Press the Enter key to continue
7.- The system scans to see which hard drives are available.
8.- When the license agreement screen appears, press the F8 key to accept.
9.- You should now see C:\Windows Press R to repair
10.- Setup will proceed with the installation.
Once setup is complete the system will restart.
Since you changed the paging file, did you put it back to: min 1.5XRam size and max. 3XRam size.

John, I did reinstall after the "worm" was eliminated...should I do this again???
Also, How do I find out how much total RAM I have???...I think the settings may be too low...and...do I have to allocate some paging file memory for D: drive?

OK John:
You seem to be the most help here...How do I get to Virtual Memory page?...I went to "Control Panel", Settings, Advanced, but where do I go from there??
Sorry to be a nuisance....
Rob.

RHERTZ,
At the top of the Virtual Memory page you should see two drives listed. Take your mouse cursor and click on the D drive to highlight the drive (select).

Should I even consider this?...when I set the paging files like you said, it still does it.....

RHERTZ,
Paging files can only go on harddrives (non-removable). Set up the paging files on C: with the min and max I have posted earlier
