Vista Beta 2 and Dimension 9150 with RAID problems

It turns out that beta 2 does not have drivers for the Intel 945P SATA chipset on the 9150 and as such will refuse to install if you have the PC in RAID mode.  Does anyone know of a workaround for this?

Thanks.

If it's just the problem with missing driver, you can set the SATA Operations to either Combination or RAID autodetect - ATA.

The other 2 options RAID autodectect - AHCI and RAID on does not allow installation of XP Pro either.

I have a Dimension 9150 with two Maxtor 250Gb drives with the Intel Matrix Storage Manager which were in a RAID configuration, as came configured for XP

I am installing Vista Ultimate (full GA release)

The install was failing with two symptoms
(a) the second drive was reporting an error message on boot
(b) BSOD STOP once the install got going
(c) Error stating that vista could not create a partition on disk 0

Intel says that the latest drivers are on the GA disk ... however despite this,  the machine would not recognize the drives and when I installed the drivers, nothing changed.
Leads me to beleive that Vista for not simply doesnt install correctly with this RAID controller.

Thank you for this post - as I have coverted the drive back to non RAID and the piece of magic is ensuring that you use the Drive section in the BIOS to disable the RAID detection ... as this is vital to get the system back working
