I did not have XP Professional. I had XP Media Center Edition. It appears that at the very end of the Vista Upgrade somehow when it rebooted it went to XP Professional setup. I assume it is somehow from the old XP install.
XP media center is XP professional it just some added files into professional called ehome the technical name for all purposes it is call XP Professional w/Media Center Edition
try clicking start ord/type in run/right click/click run as an admin/type in msconfig/ if the UAC pops up click contuine click boot.ini/ click check all boot paths and if there is a problem it should find it
