Vista: Can do, no can do?

So I have a Dell desktop that I purchased thru Dell a few years back. I also recently purchased 2 Dell laptops for work. These laptops came w/ the express upgrade to Vista.

Now, I don't need to (or want to) install the copies of Vista I have on those laptops, but I'd sure like to put a copy of Vista on my desktop. Since these are my copies of Vista, and it would be upgrading a licensed version of XP (which also came from Dell), is this "legal" and/or possible?

Installing Vista on a "few years back" computer may well pose a problem due to incompatible hardware and software.  Be sure to run the Vista upgrade advisor first to see if there are some issues.  Without a powerful processor and 1-2 gig of memory I believe you'll see a slowdown.

Its a yes and no question with a simple answer thats really not so simple.  Can you figure that out?

The shipped upgrade will work on your other PC whether its a laptop or desktop as long as it is a Dell.  When you register your upgrade, there will be no problem so long as its only on one system...

Yet...the upgrade is specific to the the most recent system you purchased so is for that system...morally speaking.

In the end, they will NOT ask if the upgrade is on the system you had just purchased and your licenced copy of Vista is completely legal.

thanks for the responses...my quesitons have been answered =)

I haven't run the Vista test yet, but I have a p3, 3.0 ghz, 2gb ram and a 256 agp vid card, so I'm hoping everything works out.

Thanks again

I have a dimension 4600 with almost same specs as yours and Vista runs fine on it.
