i bought an inspiron 1420 vista home basic

i created a 35gb partitoin x: by shrinking c: and combined with the recovery

so the new partition is after c:

restarted twice, formatted the partition

 

i used a xp setup disk, boot the machine, trying to install xp on the new partition

 

but in the blue screen when i was trying to install xp, the machine said no harddisk is detected

i tried twice with different versions of xp disk, same result

 

is Dell Inspiron 1420 not xp compatible?
