I was going to ask the same question. I did get a CD from Dell, but the question is is that also a recovery CD or is it an actual Vista CD...... I don't understand why we should have to contact them, they should mail this stuff with the computers anyway......
Okay i am looking at the dvd now....... it says *operating system* already installed on your computer....... then re-installation DVD Windows Vista Home premium 32 bit........ now to me that doesn't sound like a recovery disk but the real windows Vista disk..... Is that correct?
Oh my computer is a Inspirion 530 and just received it about a month ago or so and I love it.....
I am curious about this because on some other boards it's talked about a recovery console, and downloading an iso file from microsoft....... not all savy on this stuff, it's confusing and I don't need anything as of yet and hopefully won't, but just trying to figure out what I do have in my hands. I had to do recoveries from the hard drive many times with my dimension which had troubles booting up and well that partiton also went bonkers and used the cd to install from scratch...... I did not think it was fun....... ha ha. Hopefully this machine will treat me better than my past one.
Good luck to you. I think since we pay for that stuff we all should get it....... and like someone said and wherever I read it, if you had to put in a new hard drive for some reason, and you don't have the windows disc you are in trouble..........
That was mainly why I liked Dell, they usually did supply the darn thing where other companies did not..... it could have been an oversight for you....... I am sure mine is the vista disc, I have seperate ones with drivers and stuff as well.
I think you can buy a disc on ebay that anyone can use but can't recall the name of it at this moment, it will install the system, you still have your id number somewhere, so it works......

At least you have that DVD. I don't have that. I just have the drivers and utilities disk. I have emailed dell, so we'll see what happens.

So I received my DVD this morning along with several other discs including cyberlink and a utilities disk not for my model, but hey i'll take it.
Thanks Dell. That was fast and easy; its just too bad that I didn't receive the disc in the first place.
