IF you read the information when you ordered the PC it stated that a fee would be charged for shipping and tax to be charged when you register for the upgrade, Mine charge was $10.65.

I keep trying to claim my upgrade through the dellvistaupgrade site it accepts my service tag and C.O.A. but it then tells me my phone number and address are invalid !!!
I keep trying to inform dell support of this problem but the answer I get back is "your service tag is now recognised" .........eh? work that one out.

Also I don't see why I should have to give credit card details when I am eligible for the upgrade anyway............... if I ever get it.

Because they want $10 for the shipping and handling so you get you "EXPRESS UPGRADE" shipped in 6-8 weeks! :smileymad:

Has anyone actually gotten the upgrade CD yet? I put mine in and paid the shipping in November and have not yet gotten the CD. I also see the website to check the order status is down! I also have not gotten my Office 2007 upgrade I had to jump through hoops to claim. I won't be buying another Dell, I'll tell you that!

I've been going round and round with Dell for a week now - I called and talked to at least 5 different people yesterday - + fired off several blistering e-mails - and as I thought - a complete waste of time on my part -- I just got off the phone with an 800 number for Dell / Vista upgrade support --- same old - the Vista Dell express upgrade will ship the end of Feb or the 1st of April - You can order any version of Vista from New Egg and have it within 48 hours ( Ultima OEM - is $119 ) or go into any number of retail stores, pay for it and walk out with it or download it from Microsoft right now -- BUT we have to wait at least another 5+ weeks - yea, right -- I will purchase it today and use the Dell Cd for a dart board if and whenever it ships - but buy another Dell -- NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree 100%.  After buying 4 computers from Dell in the past that number will never reach 5!  When I purchased my first Dell service was great, but as Dell has grown they have become less and less concerned with customer satisfaction.  My XPS 410 will be the absolute last PC I purchase through Dell.  This whole deal with the Vista upgrades is ridiculous.  Dell had to of know the demand would be high and that people would be expecting there upgrades, but I now realize I would of been better off just purchasing my computer after the 30th or buying a Sony or Gateway instead!!!!  Dell has seen my last dollar.

" No mention of shipping charge on my documents.."

You need to look again, and if you ordered on the web it also stated that when you selected the upgrade.

I have looked again and there is no mention of shipping or handling, I did not have the option of selecting or deselecting the upgrade, it was all part of the package I purchased.

If you were successful what COA did you use the COA on your Office 2003 or your COA on your Windows XP ????   (I called moduslink and they said use the Windows XP COA because the Office 2003 COA was not being accepted). I think this may have been wrong as now Dell will not accept my Windows COA for the Vista upgrade. And the moduslink site for the Office 2007 upgrade say it is not verified. WHAT A MESS !!!!!!!! If anyone has successfully applied for both upgrades I would be very interested and indebted to you to learn how you did it. I have made about 16 phone calls to different Dell departments on how to do this without getting an answer. Just a runaround. Please help. Dell has to get much better with this

Why in heavens name would you enter the Windows information to get the Office upgrade? The moduslink is run for microsoft so Dell has nothing to do with that mess.

Looks like Moduslink owes you as they directed you incorrectly. I would call them back, and have them reset the COA for your XP.
