Can you boot into Vista and click on my computer and see the XP partition? If so, can you open the XP partition and see that the Windows folders are still there? If so, something may have damaged your bootloader. You can try to ues "Vista Boot Pro" to reinstall your XP bootloader.
Download Vista Boot Pro, (free program) Install in Vista and run program accoring to directions on website.

Hi, Have you installed a floppy drive, then you cableing is connected wrong. If not, go into your BIOS by pressing F2 at startup, and making sure your floppy drive has been disabled. I had to use a floppy drive to install a driver, and I had that. I worked it out to the data cable which was not connected right.
I use easybcd from vista when I setup the duel boot. Get easybcd HERE Free.
Also I used option 2 of this guide HERE to duel boot.
