W2K will not boot after user changes Network Password

Question

All of the Dell Latitude notebooks and Optiplex towers we have purchased over the last year or so have had the same problem.  When a user's password on the domain expires and they choose to change it from the login screen (ie - Your password will expire in 7 days, Would you like to change it now?), they can no longer boot the PC into Windows using that profile.  It will get to a blank desktop and just sit there.  No keypress will do anything.  The mouse will move but you can't click or right click on anything.  Your only option is to restart the PC and sign on under a different name. My previous fix has been deleting the profile and recreating it, but that has become a HUGE pain.  Has this happened to anyone, and can anyone give me a quick fix?  This doesn't happen to Dell PC's or Notebooks that I reformat and install W2K from scratch (not using the Dell CD).  So this tells me it's a problem with the Dell install of the OS. Thanks, Clint

Nothing in Event Viewer.  Just something goes wrong with the password synchro.  I have a PC with this problem right now, so anyone have some quick advice???  Thanks.

Anyone from Dell want to take a shot at it?  This happens to every Dell with a factory installed OS.  Please?

i dont think thats a dell problem. check the setting in the AD for 'user must be logged on to change password'! martin
