Web Accelorator & Downlaod Accelorator for DSL
I have recently upgraded from Dialup to Verizon DSL. Does it still help to user Web and/or Download Accelorators? If so, does anyone have any recomendations that do NOT include spyware.
Thanks,
Mike

As I said before "My suggestion is to dump any that you have".
They were only designed to help with the lower dial-up lines. I don't know what downlink speed you have but any broadband will be more than sufficient for downloading by it'self without the "accelorator".
Have you tried to download something since you now have DSL? (without the accelorator).

Fireberd,
Yes I have tried to download on DSL without the Accelorator and you are correct, it is very fast - just didn't know if it would go faster with an Accelorator. Also, with DSL when I checked my speed with the McAfee Internet Speedometer (http://promos.mcafee.com/speedometer/test_0150.asp) I got a rating of about 750Kbps with the Accelorator and now only get about 380Kbps without it. Any other feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again

(Sorry, I couldn't resist! :) )
Most of those dial-up Accelerators work by reducing the amount of information (bytes) that's downloaded to create a graphic on your screen. Consequently, they may look fuzzy, distorted, or not have all the colors that are in the original. If you like fuzzy, fine, otherwise dump the Accelerators.

Thanks to both of you for your comments, I will "dump the accelerator" (ps, my wife already gave me the spelling lesson).
Is this also true regarding a download manager - I was using "GetRight". It is still installed. Should I remove it, look for a new one or dump it also?

I have removed both Accelerators via Add/Remove Programs.
Thanks again for the knowledge update,
Mike
