web pages don't display pictures

We got a new system with  XP home edition and ie6. I am using the Mcaffe firewall et alll that came w system...We are having trouble with pictures on web pages not displaying...I have done all the things help menu suggests...I am extremely frustrated...any suggestions?!

some web pages require additional programs to be installed, in order for them to display pictures (especially animated pictures) correctly... the "standard" programs include Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Shockwave, and Sun Java.   These often install automatically, "on demand"... unless you've restricted your Active-X settings, and/or are using a popup blocker.  Do you know if you have all these installed?

if you list some specific examples of the web pages (links) you're having trouble with, someone might be able to determine exactly what (if anything) you're missing.
