Weird loading problems, everything looks different

Recently, my computer has been fine. But apparently a new program was installed that has messed something up. Certain programs aren't loading, it looks like I've turned off all the advanced visual options, Windows took a long time to start up. I've scanned all recently added items once again, and there aren't any viruses, and I'm scanning right now and there aren't any. I think a recently installed program has messed with how things are loading. Is there a way to check and fix this? I can't open the start menu, I have to choose to run new applications and type the name, so be descriptive.

I'd also run a few malware scans too. I know you mentioned you're scanning for viri, but run some malware scans in addition to that....  It certainly wouldn't hurt anyways....

Snacks256,

Have you tried doing a "System Restore" to a date before you added the software ?

Jeez, I made about 4 system restores yesterday and didn't think to try that. I also can't run my spyware scan, it isn't responding and I need to reinstall it. None of the programs had spyware when they were downloaded, I don't see how it would just pop up.

For some reason unplugging the computer fixed it.
