What Are These Temp ~DF files
I keep finding these ~DF**** temporary files in my temp folder.
What are these?? I cannot open them with any program except Word.
When opened with Word, it is 2 pages of "hieroglyphics".....
Most files can be deleated manually, but keep reappearing

They are files created and used by various apps, processes or services that are running (on my system, Diskeeper Pro 9 and MS antispyware beta generaste ~DF files, maybe other apps on your system). They store info that the process currently needs. You cannot delete the ones being used in the current session (because they are in use; you could delete them by first shutting down the process using them, but unless you know what you are doing that might be dangerous) but on restart the older ones can be deleted, as new ones are created on restart.
If you want to find out which process is using (and hence locking) a file, you could download and install (free) Unlocker. It adds an item to your right click menu. Right click on the file and click unlocker. If the file is locked, a window opens showing you what is using the file. Although intended to be used to unlock files when they require to be deleted (e.g. virus or malware), you can just use it to see what is using the file, then quit. If the file is not locked, it shows an corresponding message, but in that case you should be able to delete the file. I use it on XP SP2 home, no problems.
