What caused this boot loop?

I did a clean install of Windows 1-17-04.
I have my computer almost the way I like it.

But first thing this morning, my computer went into a boot loop, the screen came up "We're sorry, but windows didn't start normally...." and I pressed enter to start Windows normally, then it rebooted, and I pressed the key to boot windows normally. and the loop began. I tried GoBack Deluxe to revert to 9:30 last night.
The revert didn't work. So I reverted to 8:30 pm. That was the charm.

I don't remember changing any hardware or software, except "My IE2" at 6:17 pm last night. My IE2 is a jacked-up version of IE, it has all kinds of features, like tabbed browsing, etc.

But I've rebooted several times after installing it, and no problems. But this morning was the boot loop.

Now, the $1,000,000 question: How in the world can a person find out what was causing the boot loop? I am afraid it may happed again, and GoBack may not be able to fix it. Thanks!!

From your descripotion I would suspect the My IE2.  If it happens again, I would uninstall that application or even better yet, if you can restore back to a date/time before it was installed it may be better.  When applications are installed they can cause system conflicts or even change a system module (dll, etc) that, under the right circumstances, cause an OS failure.

If it does come back and uninstalling My IE2 is the culprit (after running for a couple of days without it) you can try reinstalling it to see what happens.  If it was just a bad install you are home free, if it happens again then you know the My IE2 is buggy and don't use (or wait for an updated version that may fix problems).

Thanks Fireberd, I also remember something else that happened last night:

Since I did a clean install of XP recently, I thought I'd check to see if the visualizations from Roxio's EZCD6 Audio Central will work in WMP after changing the graphic equalizer settings in WMP, because in the past, if a visualization from Roxio was playing in WMP, and I changed the Grahic equalizer setting, the computer would freeze.
I tried it, and it worked fine until I went to the next song selection in WMP. It froze solid, so I had to hold in the power button to shut it down and restart. Mayybe that corrupted something this time, but didn't show up until this morning.

The only other thing I remember doing last night was updating my batch file, the one I use to play certain music clips in succession.
But I doubt that was it.
I also went into computer properties--advanced- and in startup and recovery, I unchecked "restart" when there is a problem
Maybe a bluescreen will come up instead, and I'll write down the stop errors, then hopefully revert, and Google those, that is, if I can get a bluescreen with info.

P.S. I also remember clearing 80 or so "Invalid" registry item with "Ultra Win Cleaner One Click" last night. I never had problems like that before when using it. I used JV16 powertools to clean out the entries at 7:45 AM. Then ran UWC one click. It still found 80 invalid registry items. Apparently, UWC one click is wrong. I better just stick to JV16 powertools to clean the registry, it has never caused a boot loop.

I know, I know, I should leave the registry alone, but why do they have registry cleaners if it is wrong to use them? They claim cleaning the registry can help the system.
