That might not be the right folder. Depending on the application, it may need to go in another folder. For example, I have it version 7.0.9064.0  (300kb) in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\VS Runtime.

type in the file name for more info.

dalem29,

Other than knowing the file is a part of the C runtime library I don't know what its function is. You can download it from here and put it into your system32 folder and see if it allows fs9.exe to run.

Thanks Denny and J

I did a search on the C drive and the first time I got 2 files pertaining to Earthlink and 1 to Program Files > Microsoft Games > Flight Simulator 9. Then I ran it again and got 2 files just pertaining to the game. The version is 7.00.9466.0 with a size of 336K.

Its funny the download file won't even open when I click on it. However, the sim works fine the way it is with the disk in the drive. I leave it there because I use the sim a lot, but thought it would be helpful to be able to take the disk out and save wear and tear on it when I need the bay for other uses.

I could go ahead and download it, but not sure where to put it or just how to do that. I'm so used to downloads loading themselves...just don't want to mess things up.

Most likely, it should be in the application's folder in C:\program files (if that is where the app got installed), or a subfolder of the app's folder.  You could put copies in the various likely folders...

JRosenfeld,

Good point, although if dalem29 had an application that included msvcr70.dll it would already be present on his hard drive in some location. It's hard to say where that little program is looking for it. Given that fact, even if it's in system32 the program may not find it.
