Superman59,

It could be the just about anything, power supply, video driver, sound card, motherboard, cpu, memory, or hard drive.  I had this changed when I had rebooting problems.  It was under warranty!   It is not the operating system, so no need to re-install XP.  Try unplugging (if you have) printer, scanner, everything but computer, monitor, and keyboard and mouse.  After that I would look at the following in order, power supply, video card, memory, motherboard, cpu.

This is a tough problem and might end up very costly.  Consider the cost of all these parts against a new computer!

Does it show blue screen message before reboot. ?
If it does you can stop it from restating by pressing Windows+Break(pause) keys together to open System Properties window then select Advanced tab , Startup & Recovery , Settings button & remove tick from "Automatically restart" .
This will allow you to  read blue screen if any.

it could be a problem with the Roxio/Adeptec Easy CD / Direct CD software, or it could be an mblaster worm-type infection.  http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.htm   http://www.surf-ici.com/announce.shtml

Searching your system error messages may help determine what the cause is.  You can do that by following these instructions:

Go to your Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer Check under the System Tab for any listed error messages. If any are found, repost them in a new thread or go to http://www.google.com and input the error message in the search box to see if solution may be listed. Kip
