What's a prefetch file?

I have a problem with my software

1. I have an error message that keeps coming up saying that WStoolsS.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. I click close and the error message goes away. I also have the mouse pointer with the hour glass always there. I traced the error to C: windows prefetch folder and all files that say WtoolsA and WtoolsS. Has anyone else had this problem? It's like a virus but I can't find any virus.I can't delete those files.I use my computer to record music and it's messing with my CPU and making recording difficult.

Also the problem goes away if I'm online.

WtoolsA is known malware.

Please follow the instructions in the second link shown below for the removal of this malware. If you've already run Ad-Aware and SpyBot, skip to the instructions for downloading, installing, and running HijackThis. Post the log in a new message in the Virus Information and Removal board for advice.

rockdawg, Download and run HijackThis (from here. Post the log in the Virus Identification and Removal conference where the experts will interpret it and help you clean your system.
