where is the cd writing tasks menu please?

I don't know when this occurred but I have a feeling it was when my hard drive crashed and had to be replaced...

I had never been able to defrag the hard drive that came with my new dell computer.  I kept getting a blue screen of death about half way through the defrag.  I never could find a solution from Dell on how to fix it so I just never defragged it.  The repair guy said the problem was it had been formatted with ME and then had XP slapped on top of it and couldn't be reformatted again for some reason.  Anyway, I got a new hard drive.

Now my Roxio won't work, since he also installed SP2.  He told me to use the features that come with XP.  So I looked them up in the help section.  It states that I am supposed to click on My Computer, then double click on the cd-rw drive, and then check the options under CD Writing Tasks.

My question is, where the heck is this "CD Writing Tasks" menu located?  I see "System Tasks", "File and Folder Tasks", "other places", and "Details".  No "cd writing tasks".

Also, I used to have a Dell button on my Start Menu just below Help and Support link that took me straight to the Dell Help section (the button says Dell Solution Center).  Now when I click it, I go anywhere BUT to the help section and have to wade my way through the http://www.dell.com site to find it.  Is there a way to reset this link BACK to direct to the help login site?  The way it is set up now, I have to log in to dell.com and then log in again to the help section.  I'd really like to have my help section set up the way it was before since I used it a lot.

SP2 has caused me many headaches.

Any help would be appreciated.

shadoedove,

If you absolutely want the marginally useful Dell Solution Center, see if the procedure here gets it back for you.

To use Windows XP's CD Writing Wizard, see this.

Not that it's any help, but my Roxio Easy CD Creator works fine under SP2.

Yes, I had absolutely the same experience after doing a clean reinstall & SP2 upgrade on a Dell 8200 last week  - the Easy CD Creator 5.2 that came with the PC  wouldn't reinstall under SP2, but 5.3 worked a treat.

Thanks so much for the info on Roxio cd Easy Creator.  You are right, mine came with 5.1 installed.

Denny... I guess I wasn't making myself clear on the cd writing tasks thing.  I have used the task before my windows was reinstalled and SP2 was put on.  What I'm asking now is where the heck did it go?  I already know how to use it.  If it were there.  But it seems to have gone MIA.  Thanks for the lesson, though :)

What I need to know is where do I find it when it's missing?

::hugs::
