WRTN

Its against the terms of service to include your service tag in a post, you should have received an e-mail explaining it.

An e-mail was sent to the address you used to join the forums, that's standard procedure. The reason that we don't allow service tags is some less then honest people will use your service tag to get parts and service, then you would be stuck with the bill when there were no return parts sent back.

What is the cardinal sin in posting a service tag?  Every Dell customer service rep asks for this information as did the registration questionaire.  I did my best to post a request for help with as much useable information as I could.  Deleting my post without any explaination or email is out right unprofessional and NOT in the best business interest of Dell.  I administrate a web forum with nearly 3,000 members and have yet to find the occasion or reason to delete posts in such a manor.  If there was something in my post that was objectionable such as profanity or other unacceptable content (which there was NOT) I might understand deleting the post.  Please explain to me what is so objectionable about a service tag?

It took me awhile but I just got off the phone with Dell management about this issue.  I asked that an inquiry be made by Dell customer service management be conducted to find out who deleted my post and why. I asked that this post be monitored to see if this post get deleted as well.  I posted a request for help installing windows XP on my Dell XPS R400 computer earlier today that got deleted.  This is tantamount to a customer service rep hanging up on a customer.  I have been a Dell customer for over ten years and find this type of treatment by whomever deleted my post unacceptable especially since it was my 1st post.

Got the email explaining the deleted post at 6:29 09-18-2007.  I guess better late than never.  Will be sure not to post service tag again.
