WildTangent Removal from Control Panel
How can I remove the WildTangent icon from the Control Panel. I removed this program a long time ago, but it is still in the Control Panel. I'm wondering what I should do with it. I already used Spybot and Ad-Aware but these programs did not remove the control panel icon. I'm getting frustrated with this icon. Any suggestions? Thanks for replying.

If you mean that the program created an icon in control panel (not just an entry in the add/remove list that I think Mary is referring to), there are two possibilities.
You can remove it using TweakUI, which has an option to show/not show icons in the control panel window.
If you have XP SP1, download version 2.10 from here
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
If you have an earlier version of XP or Windows 98, you can download an earlier version of TweakUI from here (I think that also has the option, can't quite remember).

The alternative is to delete the corresponding file, which will have a .cpl extension and a name that should indicate that it relates to the icon you want to remove. In XP, the .cpl files are in C:\Windows\System32 folder. However, it may be that Windows will not let you delete it. Don't delete the wrong one, better try to move it first to, say, the temp folder.

JRosenfield,
Thanks for the link, the icon for WildTangent is now gone. TweakUI is a great application to use. Again thanks for the information. And Mary, thanks for the suggestion to hack the registry, I had already done what you suggested. By the way, what is WildTangent? I don't remember installing it.

May be WildTangent is this (from a Google search):
http://www.wildtangent.com/
or this
http://www.freewarefiles.com/programs.php?categoryid=1&subcategoryid=26&ProgramID=640
I'd not heard of it before.

JRosenfield,
Thanks for the two possible links. WildTangent is the first link that you gave me. It is a program that helps with gaming. Why would I need this program to help me with my games? (rhetorical question). Thanks for all your help.
