Will I have a Problem with my e1705?

I just bought an e1705 with duo 2.00 667, 2GB 667, 120GB 5400, Vista with Home Premium Upgrade, Dell Bluetooth, Verizon Broadband Access Card, 256MB ATI RADEON video card, Norton Internet Security 2007.

My question is should I do the upgrade to Premium immediately and then begin installing new things?  I am starting this computer from scratch.  There is no transferring of files or any such.  Any new hardware I get will be Vista compatible.  Should I expect any problems during the upgrade?  Does anyone know some things I should download or check right away?

Hello,

I too have a Inspiron E 1705 and will try to help you with information I have been experiencing.  I have the Verizon 5700 Express card, Broadband Wireless connection and am unable to open that connection after re-awakening the computer from sleep.  I have to reboot the computer every time in order to access the Internet. (I could also go through WIFI)  Also, I have Norton and you MUST go to their home page to download their Vista compatible software before you install Vista or uninstall the old version before you install.  (The upgrade is free)  I also have issues with the screen resolution and keeping the desktop icons where I put them.  You must also uninstall Sonic, if you have it.  (See Windows Vista or Dell's upgrade advisor.)  Otherwise, I love the software.  I hope that info helps.

You know, if I were you and you already have the upgrade in hand, I'd simply sit on it for a couple of months and continue using XP until more of the bugs in Vista have been worked out.  Vista is going to be a good operating system, once the bugs are gone.  Good luck with whatever you decide.
