Will the real Quickset please stand up?

When I first got my Dell M1210 quickset/wifi catcher/advance setting showed the 802.11n internal card that is in my system. Well no matter what version of quickset I put on my reformatted Vista system it does not show the 802.11n card. I am using version (According to system information) 8.0.11.A03. WHERE IS THE QUICKSET VERSION that will show my 11n internal card? and does it matter?

Thanks..

No missing drivers in Device Manager..  Let me clarify myself.  I have no problems with my system now, it runs perfectly. Its just the small things that irritate me. Quickset functions correctly, I am just wondering since the version of Quickset I am using does not show my internal wireless card as an 802.11n like it did when I first purchased the system does it matter that it will only show bands to scan as 802.11abg and no 802.11n showing.  If it makes a difference when what version of Quickset do I need to utilize with my card? I've installed/removed and reinstalled several already.

Check device manager, see if there are any missing drivers.

Maybe it is the wireless card driver?  Check in device manager in the properties for that card, see if there are any settings there. Maybe n is disabled somewhere.

Nope! My drivers are correct. Device Manager shows under network adapters - Broadcom 802.11n network adapter, its a software issue (Quickset). Apparently, I cannot locate the version that came with the OEM. It would be nice to have it.  I have already been on the Dell M1210 drivers page and downloaded the quickset I am using. I'm not going to loose any sleep over it, i just want to know if the version I am using will impede the performance of my 11n card since it only scans for 11abg networks?

You might start a new thread with the message subject  "MOD Please Help", and post your dilema.

I have a similar system, and I think a similar Quickset result. My system is E1505 upgraded from XP to Vista with Dell 1500 draft-N wireless card. I never really use Quickset, so I am not sure what changed since installing Vista. I see where the option to enable the Wi-Fi catcher is grayed out.

However, the Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility still works and is very detailed. The Site Monitor tab shows all networks in range. It shows that my network N band is fully operational. HTH.

I don't think I downloaded it. Click Start then type "Dell wireless" and see if it shows up.

Can you send me a link to that Utility, i can't seem to find it under the drivers download section for the M1210 with Vista.

Thanks..

The only folder that shows up with "Dell Wireless" is the Mobile Broadband Card Utility which is not activated.  I am using my 11n card with my home router and Comcast high speed.  I think we've gone in different directions on this subject but thanks for helping out.  My only concern is what Quickset is reporting. I can live with what I have until I find out differently that I'm not getting the full use of the 11n card.

Thanks again all.

I know what you're saying; it looks like Quickset no longer has wireless network management capabilities. Maybe Dell decided to abandon it and let Vista handle it. You can open your Networking and Sharing Center and click on View Status for your wireless connection to see the connection speed.

I think my Dell Wireless WLAN Utility is a reporting tool (not management); though it is convenient and powerful. Maybe I got it with one of the driver updates I downloaded.
