Win 7 upgrade notification

I purchased a laptop in August.  I registered with Dell for the free upgrade.  Since Win 7 has been released now, how long will it be before I receive the notification that I can get my upgrade?

I ordered my upgrade on the 21st. I got an email confirmation that my order was received but my shipping info is still blank on my order status page. How long have others waited between order confirmation and their disc shipping?

jpruessner,

Dell is aware of the issue. I ask this morning in a meeting and they said that users will be getting an email soon for them to log back in and add your shipping information.

I think the order status is blank for everyone.  No comfirmed accounts of anybody's status saying theirs has been shipped.

Some people have speculated that shipping will start on October 26, but I haven't seen or heard anything official.

Khalista,

Thank you for using the  Dell Community Forum.

Take a look in the Win 7 FAQ and also in the Emerging Issues FAQ located on the Windows OS forum board. There is a list of dates when the Win 7 will begin shipping to countries around the world.

I have already entered my shipping information. In fact, I received an order confirmation. I have not received anything saying it has shipped and I am wondering when Dell is planning on shipping the disc out.

Reagan88,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Did you register for Win 7 on the website?

Can you provide a link to where it shows estimated dates for shippping please? I can only see where it says it will be 'available' e.g. English on 26 October.

"The availability date of the operating system will not be the same as the actual ship date for your kit."

 I'm in the UK.

Thanks in adavance.

Mine is still blank (As it has been since I completed/finalized the order on the 22nd). I would not expect to get it for a few weeks yet but I would ASSUME (based on my order number, the last six digits anyway) that I was one of the first 200,000 to order it (assuming that's how they did it) so I'd assume they will update/change the blankness on my Status Order screen soon enough.

I ordered mine on the 21st. I would hope mine has been shipped but I haven't got an email stating so. I would hope that they are shipping out in order that the orders were placed but it doesn't seem that way (yet). Maybe some people's emails are just behind... or maybe thats wishful thinking. It is slightly annoying to hear that people whos orders were placed after mine are getting shipment confirmations though.

I too was waiting for the email letting me know it was time to order Windows 7 as per the current FAQ on the subject and the confirmation email from Dell after I registered on 9-4-09. No email from Dell as of this evening so I went back to the confirmation for registering email Dell sent me and clicked on the link provided and voila! There was the order cart with Windows 7 in it waiting for me to confirm my order. And at no charge to boot! Granted, Dell probably could have put a little more thought into this but I am in no hurry to install this OS as I plan on waiting a little while to see if there are any bugs. And did I mention, IT'S FREE!
