Hi Art,

Once you have highlighted LSA, either from Edit or via a right click, select "New" and you will be able to enter all the required new key information.

Jim-
Thanks for the quick reply. You are dealing with a dunce here, so I need more of your expertise.

After I right-clicked on LSA and NEW, I get a column with Key at the top (underlined) over String Value, Binary Value and DWord Value.

Keying on "Key" allowed me to enter a sub-key under LSA which is LMCompatability (if I'm following this right).
Right-click/New on LMCompatability and pressing StringValue puts "New Value #1" in the key value section.

Baed on the values MS says I need, I'm now cofused on what to do next.  What I need is:

Value Name: LMCompatability
Data Type: REG_WORD
Value: 3
Valid Range: 0,3
Description This parameter......

Any additional help you can offer is greatly appreciated. If you can, exactly what does this registry key look like?

Thanks again

OOPS, I sent this a little early by mistake

Anyways, the value reads"

LMCompatability     0x00000003 (3)

I hope that this is correct.

Thanks for your help.

Jim-
I think I have it now. Please let me know if I'm still not there.

I now have a registry entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrectControlSet\Control\LSA

The value I have for LSA is

LMCompatability

Art, Assuming that the sub-key is supposed to have a DWORD value and that DWORD value is supposed to be 3, then you are, but how about replying back with the link to the MS article cited, so I can verify. Thanks. Jim McNamara

Art,

Thanks for confirming the MS article. I glanced through it previously. It appears that you set up the LSA registry sub-key (LMCompatibility) properly assuming that the chosen value (level 3) is what you want.

Jim-

Thanks for you effort on this.  I appreciate it.

I believe 3 is what I want. The article seems to say that 0 is the only other valid value. My changing the value will not be as daunting as adding it.

I got a copy of Reg Organizer by ChemTable Software. It was a lot more intuitive than good old regedit, so I followed their format.

What I'm trying to do here is network my old XPS-500 (old), upgraded with 1.4 Celeron, 98SE with my new XPS-410 Vista.  One part is getting NTLM 2 onto the 98SE machine.  Still no net but I think I'm getting there.

Enjoy
