Windows 16 bit subsystem error
Running windows XP. Received error on startup that said, " Windows/system 32/ autoexec.nt The system file is not suitable for running ms-dos & microsoft windows application. Choose close to terminate this transaction." Problem doesn't appear to affect operation of computer when you close error window......just annoying!
No 16 bit programs are reflected in task manager or in startup file. Tried using "restore" and error message still appeared. Error message doesn't appear on startup when I load a different user desktop.
Any ideas as to how to make this go away would be appreciated
Thanks

hi,
After looking on the internet, I've found the solution to our problem.
and here it is:
you go to your C drive, then to the folder :"windows", in there you find the folder "repairs" , there you copy the file "autoexec.nt" and paste it in your "system32" folder, which is also in your "windows" folder.
It worked for me, so I hope it will work you as well.
cheers,
Myriam
