Windows 7, IE 9
I just got a new desktop the first part of June. It is an Inspirion 560. Up until a couple weeks ago everything worked fine. The problem I am having is I can't get to some websites now unless I enable scripts for some sites and disable scripts for others. Also then I have to un-check Enable protected mode. I've tried re-setting IE that was ineffective, and downloaded Mr Fixit and got an error with that. Can anyone give me some ideas as to how I can fix this?

I would start by running a full scan with MalwareBytes in Safe Mode (F8 before Windows screen during Startup).

Just because IE9 came preinstalled, doesn't mean it can't be uninstalled, but if Chrome and Firefox don't work either, then there isn't much point in uninstalling it at this point.
What else have you tried that you haven't mentioned here?
Do you have Windows 7 64-bit or 32-bit? If 64-bit, make sure you are NOT using the 64-bit version of IE.
Check this article to see if any of it helps you:

Here are some other steps:
Download and install Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome to make sure the sites work as expected in those browsers. If so, then I would ...
Try uninstalling IE9 to see if everything works ok in IE8. If so, then you could ...
Try reinstalling IE9 or leave well enough alone.
IE9 can be uninstalled by going to Control Panel, Programs (or Programs and Features), Uninstall a Program, then click the link in the top-left to View Installed Updates, find and uninstall IE9.

I tried Firefox and Google Chrome and I had the same problem with them. IE 9 came already installed on this PC when I got it.

None of that would explain why Chrome and Firefox wouldn't work either though. Did this start at at specific time? You could try a System Restore back to a point prior to when it started. You could try running CHKDSK /R from a command prompt (you will need to select Y to schedule it for the next reboot, then reboot). You could also try running SFC /SCANNOW from the command prompt, but that may require a Windows installation disk to complete everything.

Well, if the chkdsk and sfc don't help, then (you should see if anyone else has a suggestion) you are probably going to need to do a factory restore. It takes only about 10 minutes, but it will wipe out everything you have - personal/data files, programs installed after you received it, settings, etc. - just like the day you first turned it on. Make sure you backup any files (pictures, music, etc.) that are on your C: drive. You can mitigate some of the rebuilding woes by copying your C:\Program Data\ and C:\Users\username\AppData\ folders, then restoring them after the Restore and reinstalling your programs. This will at least copy many of your Windows and program settings to save a little grief.
Wish I had more.

Ok this is what I have tried before....I installed both Chrome and Firefox and had the same problem with them. I tried resetting Internet Explorer in the Tools/Internet Options, Advanced tab. I have scanned with Malwarebytes, McAffee, Paretologic PC Health Advisor. I tried Mr Fixit on the Microsoft site and got an error. I tried System Restore and got an error there also. All was fine before I went on vacation, when I got back I downloaded the updates from Microsoft Update, my husband had done some FTPing between my pc and his while I was gone also, he thought maybe he hammered something doing that. I cleaned out Temporary Internet Files also when I got home. Sometime after that I started having problems. Actually June 20th to be peercise. Right now I am running the CHKDSK. I appreciate you trying to help with your suggestions.

I have 64 bit Windows 7 and have been using the 32 bit IE 9.
