Windows 7 - image restore and Dell's partitions

Dell computers typically have extra partitions for things like Media Direct and factory restore (so, including the OS, that's three partitions).

When you use Windows 7 image backup / restore, does it backup an image of the ENTIRE drive, including all three partitions, or just the partition that "C" is on?

Also, when restoring, will the image restore JUST the "C" partition, or will it wipe the entire drive that "C" is on?

Hi, The last time I used that, it just made an copy of C. If you want to make an copy of your entire HD, then you will need either, Ghost, or True Acronics.

If it makes an copy of C, then it is making an copy of yout C partition. When it rerstores your C partition, then it wont wipe your C partition.

well it was a good try - Media Direct partition got hosed.  At least whatever windows 7 image did, it won't bootup Media Direct independent of the OS, so, I guess it DOES effect the entire drive.  Nice one
