Windows 7 Libraries not appearing

Hi.

I have just bought my new XPS laptop, loaded it up and click on Libraries and I get a blank screen where My Documents, Music etc is supposed to be. Even if I create a new Library it just vanishes. If I go to My Documents and use the add to Library link, it says that it is already added. To say I am annoyed is putting it mildly. My machine is 1 hours old and it isn't working correctly.

Please help with this issue.

Thanks, Drew

Check out this link, it was most helpful for me

You do need to make all folders not hidden first, to do these steps.

However I disagree with the person about deleting desktop.ini and etc... Nothing seems temporary for me and worked simply after their first step...

Loaded it up means, turning it on. Fresh out of the box. The only thing I did was a USB backup. Is there no other way apart from reinstall? It wasn't working at first start up and I will only reinstall as a last resort. I didn't buy a new machine to be doing that.

Thanks, Drew

What do you mean by "loaded it up?"   Did you make a back up set?  I suggest you do a full restore and start from there.

  Drew,

I thought my Optiplex was fresh out of the box then discovered it had three different anti-virus programs installed. I too had a problem not being able to find files I just saved and then discovered the folder they were going to was hidden. Hope this helps you before you have to reinstall.

"Hey guys, I think I've found a temporary solution about this after "cracking my nut brain" :D

Just go to "C:\Users\(your user name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Libraries" folder, then select all folders (or 1 by 1 if you wish), just uncheck that damn hidden attribute. Solve!!"

When doing this step go to the General section of each respective library sub-folder, it took me a while to get it to work, but it worked for me on my Dell XPS 17 that I just bought. It seems to be more a problem specifically with Windows 7 SP1.

I'm having this exact issue I just ordered my new XPS 17 and nothing appears under libraries "exactly as described above" now Podcasts appears for me since I installed Zune, which creates the directory for you. I've explored further and it's as if those directories exist but they don't appear under Libraries and you have to manipulate your views by going through user and locating "My Documents", My Pictures", and etc... through that but does anyone have a solution for these to appear in Libraries where they should?
