Windows 7 Media Player 12

Question

Everytime I try to activate Media Player 12 I receive the following message:
The file wmploc.dll has a version number 12.0.7601.18526 where 12.0.7601.18741 was expected. Windows media player was not installed properly and must be reinstalled.
I'm asked if I want to use Windows website to reinstall. Said yes, but there is no download icon for reinstallation. All other attempts to get a functioning media player 12 has failed.
Advise.
