Windows 7 stuck on Starting Windows screen

Hi,

I was hoping someone can help me out as I'm a newbie when it comes to computers. I installed a bunch of Microsoft Windows Updates after being away
for a few months. I installed all of them at the same time and when my computer restarted it now stays stuck in the "Starting Windows" screen. I pressed F8 in
hopes to start it in safe mode but I got a message saying "Failure configuring windows updates reverting changes" but it just goes back to the starting windows
screen and nothing happens. It worked fine before these updates so I can really use some help.

I also chose "Repair Your Computer" and it asked me for an administrative password but I don't remember what it is since I set it up a few years ago and disabled booting with a password.

Also, I ran Startup Repair and it said Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Michael,

Let’s try system restore which can resolve the issue.

Below mentioned steps would help you with system restore:

  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Tap during startup until the Windows Advanced Options menu appears. If the Windows Advanced Options menu does not appear, restart the computer, and try again. Press the until Repair Your Computer is highlighted, and press .
  3. In the System Recovery Options click to select your language, and click  Next
  4. In the System Recovery Options window, log in as a user with administrative rights, and click       OK
  5. Click System Restore.
  6. In the System Restore window, click      Next     to display the most recent restore points in chronological order.
  7. Click the Show more restore points check box for a complete listing of restore points. Click to select a restore point.
  8. A good starting point is to attempt to restore from the most recent restore point. If this fails to correct the problem, and then try the next oldest restore point until the issue is resolved. Any software installed after the selected restore point needs to be reinstalled. Click Next and then Finish.

Awaiting your response!
