Windows 7 updates not installable

Hi,

For the company, we have bought 2 vostro 470 desktops, which have been delivered this month.

After startup and preparing for first use, windows 7 downloads and installs its updates.

However, after a few update installs, the other installs fail ("windows update error 800B0100, code 80244018). Trying to fix this with the windows 'fix it' does not solve the problem and any other updates fail.

I have already reset the pc to its factory condition, but the same problem appears.

What can be the problem here ?

Thanks

Hi Johanjo,

This forum is for desktop hardware questions, but I believe your issue pertains to the OS, so I'm going to move your message to the Microsoft OS forum for further help. Good luck!

Sounds like incorrectly loaded Windows at factory settings. Dell preload Windows using a factory image and this often has problems compared to clean installation. Loading to the factory settings won't fix the problem as they contain the problem. You have verified this as you have 2 twin systems with the same problem.

Dell do not provide Windows Reinstallation DVDs with systems due to an OEM Media Reduction Policy.

I had provided a complete alternative means of installation via a downloadable solution but had to remove it.

As you reside in Belgium there is no online request form for Dell Reinstallation DVDs (Dell only have such a form for the United States). Your only choice is to contact Dell Technical Support. You should do so before 90 days has passed as this is a software issue and they may not provide you installation discs after 90 days.
