Windows 7 (upgrades & Factory Restore)

I'm New user to the forum with a dell xps studio 13!

Just  2 quick questions.. . I registered for Windows 7 Home Premium® 64bit English, is it then possible to updgarde to Ultimate?

Also, since my dell came with vista, it will restore to vista. is there some way so it restores to windows 7 instead of vista?

Thankyou .

Yes you can for $140 see HERE

No the recover partition will be vista and not 7 so if you try to restore with it it will take you back to vista.

Thankyou!

Bah that means the extra 15gb hardrive is obsolete. So there is no way to tweak it so that the factory restore is with windows 7? Im probably just going to clone my Clean Install windows 7 with Acronis True Image, then put that onto the RECOVERY 15gb hardrive. Does deleting everything in the RECOVERY drive ruin anything?

Also when you upgrade, through microsoft. Do they give you the full copy of Windows 7 Ultimate? or an .iso to download?

Cheers

The only way to tweek it would be to have it installed at the factory. Really it is not that much of use. IF you can spare the 15 gig then your idea to clone your clean install into the space is not bad, however I would recommend a clone be on a seperate disk. Remeber the clone is still on the main drive and if something happens that you cannot access the drive at all the clone may not be accessible either.

Going through MS will be what ever you order. There is full versions and there are upgrade versions. So you will get which ever one you decided to purchase.
