Bugbatter, I am trying to run Outlook 2007 as an adminstator. It seems that after all those Windows Updates on Tuesday Outlook has been slow to open. As I was researching this problem, I found a possible solution which is to open Outlook go to Tools>Trust Center> Add -Ins and turn the Add Ins off. Thos is when I discovered that I cannot run Outlook as an adminstrator. In the source you sent I tried the first 4 options. In Option 1 when I followed these instructions I got a window asking me if I wanted to start Outlook in Safe Mode? In Option 2 there was no 'run as adminstrator." Option 3 did not work. Option 4 would not allow me check "run as adminstrator" because this option was greyed out. I did not tackle Option 5 yet.
KirkD-appreciate the reply. Tried your 1 and 2. These did not work.

1 - Right click on the program icon and click on "Run as Administrator)box,
2 - Right clicl on the icon, select Properties, click on the Compatibility tab, select the box "Run as Administrator". This makes the selection automatic, so you only have to double-click the icon to do it with administrator credentials.
In addition, if you want to install and run an older program using the Compatibility tab selection of the OS, also set the Administrator box. This improves the ability to get older programs running. Do this for BOTH the installation and the running of the program. I have been very successful doing this.

I finally found the answer to running Outlook as an administrator. Do a shift+ right clickon the Outlook icon and the "run as administrator" will show. However I cannot uncheck the checks at the Trust center> Add-ins. I get a message that only an administrator can make changes. I am the administrator.

I just noted that when I right click on my other program icons one of the selctions is "run as administrator." I do not have this option when I right click on Outlook. There must be a setting somewhere that is off.

"Put a hold on this Outlook 2007 patch
It looks like the nonsecurity Outlook update described in MS Support article 2412171 is causing slowdowns with Outlook 2007, if certain add-ins are installed.
As noted in the Outlook Answers forum and in Officeforlawyers.com, the problem appears related to the COM add-in for Microsoft Office Outlook Connector. It may also impact folks using Outlook to connect to Gmail." (from Windows Secrets)
How do I uninstall this patch?

I figured out how to uninstall patch kb2412171 and Outlook now opens normally on this Windows 7 machine. I have a Vista system which was not affected by this patch.
