Windows 7e upgrade specification

I have ordered, via Amazon, an upgrade to my two year old Packard Bell Vista Home Premium machine. As I am in the Euro zone I will be getting Windows 7e. I understand that this will not be an upgrade but a complete wipe of my system and a new install. Hurrah that's how all upgrades should be; I do backup all my data and have all the disks for reinstalling applications. So I will be starting with a "plain" Windows 7 without all the rubbish that Packard Bell install on their machines!

I have just bought a Dell Inspiron 1545 with Vista Home Premium and have registered with Dell for the free upgrade to Windows 7.

Does anyone know, yet, if the upgrade I will get is plain Windows 7e i.e. only Windows and not any other Dell or Dell affiliated software added?

Hi, The upgrade as the name suggest will only be an upgrade of your OP, with no Dell software on it. Also Microsoft and the Euro crowd have reached an deal, which will see Europe getting the same version of Windows 7 as the rest of the world.

What did you order from amazon? Was it an upgrade or full version?  Either way you will be able to do a clean install with the upgrade media. Read THIS. even though it mentions Vista the same will apply for 7

I have two copies of Win 7 pro on order and will be doing the exact same thing to get clean installs on both of my machines.

Thank you for your reply.

I hope this does not mean just an upgrade but a complete overwrite of the existing Windows XP Home Premium.

Good a clean install is what I want.

that is an upgrade disk. It  is designed to be run from within the windows enviorment. If you want a clean install you will have to follow the steps in the link I sent that is the only way you can clean install with an upgrade disk.
