Windows 8 Installation CD

Hi,

About a month ago, I accidently deleted a few too many drivers on my laptop and now it is broken.

When I purchased my laptop I thought I would get a win 8 installation dvd, as this was an option I selected when ordering online, but I never received it.

After talking to customer support, they sent a "Recovery Disk" which was of no use at all. (It specifically says on the disc, not for installation of drivers)

Now ive sent 3 emails to the person who sent me the recovery disk, asking for the installation disk, and no reply.

Please, this is getting frustrating. My laptop has been broken for over a month.

How do I get dell to send me a windows INSTALLATION disc - not recovery disc?

Thanks,

The recovery media will restore the system to the condition it was in when you received it - OS and drivers included.  Boot the system from the media and follow the prompts.

If it's just drivers you need to reload, those can all be downloaded from support.dell.com.

The problem is I cant boot from the UEFI OS, (Or the legacy) so I cant use system restore. When I boot from dvd, and try system restore it tells me to restart and select a version of windows to restore - so I restart and select the UEFI, it wont boot and I cant get to system restore.

Ive tried to 'reset' using the recovery disc, but it tells me a required drive partition is missing.

If I try a refresh, it says the drive where windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive and try again.

If I try Install Windows from the recovery disc, it says some drivers are missing. (The recovery disc does not have these drivers on them)

Please, if theres a dell person reading this, can you please send me an installation dvd. Please, I just want to get this fixed, its been over a month now and I cant be bothered mining through hundreds of websites for "possible fixes". None of them have worked. I just want to reinstall windows

As long as the version of Windows 8.0/8.1 you have is not "Windows 8.1 with Bing"  you can use the Windows Media Creation Tool to download a .iso and make a bootable USB:

http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/download-microsoft-windows-and-office/download-microsoft-windows/download-windows-8-1-retail-and-oem-iso/

You can then boot from it and perform a clean install of Windows. See here:

http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/a-clean-install-of-windows/a-clean-install-of-windows-8-1/

State your model of Dell for more assistance as you may need to prepare SATA drivers in order to see the HDDs/SSDs during installation.
