I suggest you to run Windows Updates and use the Windows File Recovery to check if it works properly.
You may also use the Dell Backup and Recovery application to backup data and to create a Recovery Media or a Rescue Disk. The application can be launched by clicking on the “Dell Back and Recovery” tile on the Windows 8 UI page. Please update the software by clicking on the “Update” tile before using it to backup data.

Thank you for your reply and for the update. This seems to be a Windows issue and I have found post on the Microsoft Community website in which a workaround has been provided. i did run all updates and tried running "windows file recovery" SEVERAL times, but it is NOT working.....
that is why i am contacting you....i am receiving the error code "0x81000033" which says there is not sufficient space for the backup, but as
i previously stated, the target destination has over 1.2TB of free space...
