Windows 98 and Optiplex GX280

I have a GX280 and want to install Windows98 on it.  I've successfully installed it and it has problems booting normally.  In safe mode it goes into Windows but I would need it to load the drivers.  I check the Dell site and don't see any drivers for Windows 98.  So it would be safe to assume that Dell doesn't support this system w/ 98?

Harvey_Comcast,

Yes, that is a safe assumption. It is also entirely possible that there may be no Windows 98 drivers for some of the hardware on your system.

It's an Intel 915 chipset, so you can try Intel's site to see if they have Windows 98 drivers for this platform. You may need to get the nIC driver from Broadcom's site. The videodriver would have to come from Intel if you're using the onboard videosolution, or from ATI if you bought the X300 PCI-e upgrade card. The audio driver would have to come from Intel as well. If any of these drivers don't exist for 98 (the chipset drivers may not exist for OSes prior to Win98SE), you're probably out of luck.
