Windows closing

Why is it that if I have several windows open and I close one of them then all of the windows close on me?

Rhonda21,

Are these Internet Explorer windows?  Are you using Internet Explorer 7?

I am not sure if I am using Internet Explorer 7, but odd the problem is not there anymore. Although can you answer this question. One of you guys helped me with a hijack problem back in July. I created a restore point for 7-13-07 but I am not able to go back past Oct calendar. Do you know why?

I had 10G of hard drive space when I bought my computer. I have my system restore on the max 4571 MB 12%. How do I know if I am using internet explorer 7?

Rhonda21,

I'm glad that you are no longer having a problem with your computer.

System Restore has a limit on the amount of hard drive space it will use.  As newer restore points are created, the oldest restore points are dropped off to keep the size of the restore file under that limit.  You can change this limit under System Restore Settings when you first start System Restore.

Steve,
I still have a problem with my windows closing. I mean I opened internet, went to my e-mail, open the e-mail you sent me. A new window appeared, I signed in to the Dell Forum to reply this to you, and I typed this same message and did a spell check and all windows closed.

Rhonda21,

Across the top of your Internet Explorer, click Help and then About.  You should then be able to see which version of Internet Explorer you are using.

Steve,
It is odd but when I submitted my post it went to a blank screen and closed my window I had open for my yahoo mail. I didn't use the tab I just opened internet explorer again. Do I need to use my tabs instead?

I got an error message and tried to print screen and paste it here but it would not let me. It said that internet explorer was encountering an error and must close. So I clicked close and all windows closed again.

Thank you Steve. I will try uninstalling IE7 and see what happens.

Rhonda21,

Since you are using Windows XP, and your problem seems to be with Internet Explorer 7 having errors, you can go back to Internet Explorer 6 by uninstalling IE7 through Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.  After you have uninstalled IE7, your browser will be IE6.

Rhonda21,

You can use tabbed windows or you can open additional Internet Explorer windows.  The choice is yours.  It is nice to have options...
