windows explorer does not recognize file format

Peoples Gas Co. (Chicago Area) offers electronic viewing of gas bills.  When attempting to view past gas bill statements, Windows Explorer pop-up indicates that "file not recognized".  People website doesn't indicate format in which file is sent.  It doesn't seem to be adobe format.  Peoples Energy was no help.

Any suggestions???

Thanks

Can you find out what the file format extension is?  e.g. .doc, .txt, .pdf, etc.   Usually you can RIGHT click on files and then download them to the PC and when you do that you will be able to see what the file extension is.

Actually you should be able to right click on File link of site , & select  Properties to show file extension.

Set Explorer to show file extensions. Tools, folder options, view tab uncheck 'hide extensions for known file types'.
