Windows Explorer File Manager View Settings
I am having trouble getting my Windows Explorer File Manager (Win 98 SE) to keep the view settings that I make. I set one folder manually to Details and then Right Click and select Arrange Alphabetically and then I use the Folder Options, View, Like Current Folder button to set all of my other folders. When I close and then re-open Windows Explorer the folders and files are no longer in alphabetical order including the one that I had just set manually. Also when I save a file, the file list that shows up in the pop-up window is not in alphabetical order. This is really annoying as I have to search in the small window for the folder I want.
I have also played with the Advanced Settings by clicking in the box for "Remember each folder's view setting" but this does not keep the settings I select either.
I have used this computer for several years and this problem just recently surfaced.
Thanks

Steve,
I got an error message when I tried to run your registry fix something like "Cannot import Folderfix.reg. The specified file is not a registry script. You can import only registry files." Are you sure this is supposed to work for Win 98SE?

To keep you from going to the other link and to add more detail to
the fix I put it all here.
On the Menu Bar select
View
Folder Options
Click on View Tab
Scroll down to "Remember each folder's view Settings" and uncheck the box.
it to your desktop:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoSaveSettings"=hex:00,00,00,00
Follow the prompts
e.g. Details, alphabetcally by name, etc.
the way your master was set up.
