windows fax and scan

I'm using Vista Ultimate and am have trouble getting WFS to start.
I'm getting the following message when I start WFS "Windows Fax and Scan cannot run as it cannot access your documents folder. Please ensure that Windows Fax and Scan can access that folder."

I have searched for a solution thru Microsoft and other sources but to no avail. I have given every possible folder, etc sharing rights but the WFS will not budge past that error message.

The documents folder is located at C:\Users\ \Documents and I have provided sharing rights to it and I am the administator.

I also run WFS as administrator.

I have also given sharing rights to the fax and scan folders located at C:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\MSfax and MSscan folders (they are hidden folders by default)

One other note - my C:\ drive is named OS so it appears as "OS(C:)" in the tree.

Hi argcpa,

Did you relocate the Documents folder to a different drive (or to a network path) lately? Also, are you able to access the Documents folder via the Start menu link? I'm wondering if you're experiencing the problem as well.

Ramesh,

Thanyou very much. The problem was that the pointer for the "Documents" folder was pointing to drive J which was an external drive.

The link that you provided for "Nothing happens when you click on a shell folder link in the Windows Vista Start menu" solved the problem.   www.onlinehelp.com/articles/180/1/
