Windows MCE Situation, Feedback Appreciated

Hey everyone, here's my situation.

The product key on my XPS 400 says "Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005"

I reformatted my computer, and used the CD that came with my computer, but the CD said "Windows Home Sp1a," so my Product key didn't work.

So, I conatcted Dell, and I actually got a DVD sent to me "Window Media Center Version 2005 with Update Rollup 2."

My 2 problems are that when I check what OS I'm running it says "Windows XP Professional." (I don't know if that's how WMCE is detected)

AND I do not have the Media Center program that lets me watch TV via my computer.

Any feedback or help will be very much welcomed.

Thanks.

So you did re-install using the MCE DVD?

I guess it is possible the DVD is labeled wrong, call Dell explain your problem, and ask for another DVD.

I believe MCE shows up as XP Pro when you check the System Properties window.  I know that it is, basically, XP Pro with some additions on top making it into the Media Center Edition of XP.

Hey everyone, thanks for the responses.

"So you did re-install using the MCE DVD?"

 - Yeah, I re-installed the MCE DVD, and I just sent an e-mail to Dell, hopefully it will get resolved.

 - That what I thought too, just wasn't 100% sure.

Try this, go to control panel> add remove programs> add remove Windows Components

see if media center is in there, if so, tick the box and hit next to add it.

Did you install all your drivers?

Assuming you re-installed using the correct DVD (and I think you did), try this:

- Open Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs.
- Click on Set Program Access and Defaults (in the left hand panel).
- Make sure the following options are selected:
