Windows Media Encoder 9

As anyone had any experience with this? I'm wondering if this is a worthwhile download; from what I see in the description it seems to be saying some features need at least a 2 GHz processor to function correctly.

I was going to run some bechmark tests on my computer and it advised I would need this installed as a prerequisite.

Anyone have input on on Windows Media Encoder 9? Thanks.

I doubt you need it at all. This seems to be for advanced web & software designers. http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/wm9series.asp Do Google search for more.

Thanks Mary. I did see that write-up that you linked. But, I think you may be right. I don't think I want to install it just to run bechmarking tests. Thanks for the reply.

I downloaded it the other day because it was needed for the Aquamark video benchmark. Apart from that the only use I found for it was the screen capture utility to record screen animations, such as you sometimes see in software instructions (you record the mouse moving to a menu, opening some option, or record typing text, editing a picture in a graphics program, or whatever). Could be useful if you need to show someone how to do something in an app, you can send them a video of it (like Denny's famous viewlets, though I don't know if this is how he makes them). It also has a utility to convert video formats to Windows Media (wmv).

Thanks JRosenfeld. I'd like to do some benchmarking also on my homebuilt system. I might have to re-think this  now..
