Windows media player 9
When I run news videos from MSN and my internet provider thru windows media player 9 they work fine. However when I try to play movie trailers or movie shorts from various other sites (gaming sites, etc) thru the media player the movies play the sound fine and I can see all the shapes but the colors are out of whack. They are all like bright orange and blue and other colors. I can play movie trailers with quick time with no problems. I am using windows xp with the latest service pack. I have also gone into the media player and I have it set to be the default player for all files on my system except dvd as I have a dvd player software for that. Any ideas why the colors are out of whack?

Has nothing to do with video drivers, WMP needs codec for playing movies. Go to WinDVD site and download their demo, then WMP should work.

Let me correct you again with your inaccurate information. One may be able to "play" the movies to some degree with WMP without the codec, but video and sound can be will be distorted without them. Therefore he does need to try WinDVD. You are just upset because your over inflated ego got brusied. If WinDVd doesn`t help, then fine I tried, I know I can`t walk on water, how about you?

Rogue, let me correct you again. He has the codec or it would not play the movie. He's not having trouble playing DVD video since he stated that "movie trailers or movie shorts from various other sites (gaming sites, etc) thru the media player the movies play the sound fine and I can see all the shapes but the colors are out of whack." Therefore he doesn't need WinDVD.

In Windows Media Player.
Tools--options--performance(tab)
Click "advanced"
Uncheck "Use Overlays"
Uncheck "Use video mixing renderer" under DVD options. (and under performance options, if the prior doesn't help" OK
I hope it helps.
