windows media player error message

Question

When I try to run windows media player I get an error message that says 'the file wmplayer.exe has a version number of 10.0.0.3931 where 10.0.0.3803 was expected. Windows media player is not not installed properly and must be reinstalled.' I click to reinstall it and the setup fails saying that it is in use. It did this before so I ran a system restore that fixed it for about a day. It is also skipping a lot. It does the 'remix' effect and then speeds up the video to catch itself up when I play vids on my computer and internet.
