windows protection error after installing some games

Hi im pretty good with computers but this error is confusing me. I installed microsoft train simulator last night and when i tried to run the game and I get this weird error with a blue screen. And I keep getting this error(not the windows protection error,the one when I started train simulator with) and I wasent even running the game. So I restarted my computer and it started up and it went passed the windows me screen and then to a black screen and like after 10-15 seconds it goes to the windows protection error system halted message. So I had to start in safe mode, and it started in safe mode but it wont start in normal mode. So I ran scan disk and disk defrag and after 7 hours of running both those programs, I restarted my computer and the error went away and it started in normal mode. This error happened before after installing another game. It doesnt happen everytime I install a game. Like this week and last week I installed nba like 2004 and james bond 007 and I didnt get this problem.
