Windows Styles problem
Hi,
my Dad bought a new Dimension 9150 with WinXP Prof. When we change from WinXP desktop style to Windows classic Styles it looks fine first. But after a restart it changed back to WinXP Style. Could you please help with ideas how to fix the Windows classic style.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Schpock,
Check your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware settings. Some of these have settings to automatically restore XP desktop at Startup. Protection against Smitfraud.C bug that changes wallpaper to fake Blue Screen of Death.
While this link basically discusses the reverse of your problem, its pretty good reading as to how some programs affect visual style settings and what to check: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=555512

Glad to see I'm not alone. I spent a few days talking to dell on this one. Two options
I had the same issue as you from the first bootup. Let me know how you get on. I'm very happy with my 9150 now that all the bad stuff is off of it.
1) Run Sonic update manager and get all of the fixes for Sonic. Disable DLA on your CD/DVD's
2) Clean install. See here for help http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=sw_winxp&message.id=178462#M178462
