Windows Update ERROR (0x800A138F)

When I try to do a Windows Update I get this error:

I also looked up my Windows Update log and it shows this for my last error messege:

"2003-11-29 18:05:28 23:05:28 Error IUENGINE Querying software update catalog from https://a248.e.akamai.net/v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/getmanifest.asp (Error 0x800C0005)"

I checked ALLLLL over to try and solve this problem because I haven't been able to use Windows Update in a couple months now. I've done everything suggested to fix this problem but nothing helped. I know other people have had this problem but I still haven't found the solution.

I followed the directions on this site (http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/Updtcl.htm - 20 steps), and it still isn't working....... PLEASE HELP ME lol

Had the same error when attempting Windows Update.

When checking known WU problems (first link in previous reply), the 11th entry described the error, suggesting it may have been caused by a system restore removing Service Pack 1.  I had, in fact, just restored from a System Checkpoint.

The solution, to edit the Registry, appeared to work because I can now get into Windows Update.
