Ok, but here's the thing: i don't really know HOW to disable firewall. I have AVG, spybot, malwarebytes, and ad-aware on my machine: do these contribute to my firewall? Or it just a windows thing? How do I know if these programs have their own firewall or not?

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
You can Disable your anti virus, firewall, anti-spyware and restart. Make sure these 3 are disabled on restart.

ah, i figured it out. i'll disable everything and let you know what happens with my updating.
